10 pubs to enjoy this late summer in Brook Green, Askew & Brackenbury Village

In our patch of West London we’re always on the hunt for the best local pubs for all the family to enjoy. With this wonderful summer drawing to an end, we’ve rounded up a selection of 10 "locals"  ...in no particular order... to enjoy a pint in the sunshine across the three villages!

1.      THE ANGLESEA ARMS, W6

The Anglesea Arms is located at 35 Wingate Road and has excellent food and a lovely atmosphere. There is a small outdoor area which is a great place to enjoy a cool drink in the sun. Inside they have ‘The Long Wall’ which showcases work from local artists or photographers and this month they are showing the work of Noemi Redon.

2.      THATCHED HOUSE, W6

Located on the corner of Dalling Road, the Thatched House is a friendly original London pub. The garden is a real sun trap with a country feel, ideal for bank holiday drinks alongside delicious food from the BBQ hut. Only a short walk from Ravenscourt Park and dog-friendly, the Thatched House is the perfect spot for that post walk pint!

3.      THE LYRIC THEATRE ROOF GARDEN, W6

The Roof Garden at the Lyric Theatre is a wonderfully green, tropical paradise located in the heart of Hammersmith. Despite its central location, the roof garden is peaceful and has excellent views. Not only an ideal spot to enjoy some drinks before the theatre, the space is also available to hire exclusively or as an area booking. Currently showing The Hungry Caterpillar – a classic!

4.      THE QUEEN’S HEAD, W6

The Queen’s Head has one of the biggest beer gardens in West London and a drinks menu to match! Located in the heart of Brook Green this local gem was originally built in 1796 as one of two houses for two brothers as their ‘out of town’ villas. Becoming The Queens Head pub in the early 1900’s, it’s the ideal destination for a Sunday roast or to while away the evenings in the spacious garden.

5.     THE HAVELOCK TAVERN, W14

The Havelock Tavern is one of London’s original gastro pubs and it’s no secret it’s a local favourite. With a lively, informal atmosphere, it’s a great place to catch up with the family or a group of mates and enjoy a few pints whilst tucking into some good pub food. Located on the corner of Masbro and Irving Roads, we’d highly recommend a trip to The Havelock Tavern.

6.     THE KEEP OF BROOK GREEN, W14

A stone’s throw from Brook Green, The Keep offers everything you could possibly need. With an all day dining menu, delicious cocktails, organic wines and a lovely sunny outdoor terrace which is heated and covered in the cooler weather, there’s something for everyone. Make sure you say hello to Damian at the bar!

7.      THE OAK, W12

Positioned on the corner of Goldhawk and Paddenswick Roads and just a stone’s throw from Ravenscourt Park this is the perfect place to end up after spending the day in the sun. The pub is in a Grand Victorian Building and the décor is inspired by modern industrial chic, old English eccentricity and Italian antiques. The sensational cuisine at the oak is inspired by the Mediterranean, so you can pretend you’re in a piazza in Rome whilst appreciating the sun too! We would definitely recommend their wood fired pizzas.

8.      THE HAWKS NEST, W12

Located on Goldhawk Road there is always something going on at The Hawks Nest! Whether it’s the weekly quiz on Tuesdays or live piano on a Wednesday, this is a great place to sit back and enjoy a fun and lively atmosphere. The Hawk’s Nest has a magical outdoor area decorated with fairy lights and makes the perfect setting for alfresco dining. They have a wide variety of freshly made cocktails and an extensive wine list to match. We would recommend the jalapeno margarita!

9.      THE EAGLE, W12

The Eagle is situated at the bottom of Askew Road, not far from Ravenscourt Park, and boasts a fabulous garden which is ideal for families or large groups. The pub even has a burger and drinks shack! A lively and social pub, you are bound to bump into some familiar faces. The garden has large huts if you need some reprieve from the sun or want to have a ‘cosier’ experience.

10.   THE PRINCESS VICTORIA, W12

One of the original gin palaces built in 1829, the Princess Victoria offers over 100 artisan gins, alongside real ales and a fantastic food menu with great offers throughout the week. Pop in on a Monday for a ‘Pie & Pint’ or enjoy a ‘Steak & Wine Wednesday’ for two with their 8oz sirloin steak and a bottle of Malbec – ideal when the autumn evenings start to draw in. Decorated with pictures and paintings of birds, the Princess Victoria is full of character and does not disappoint.
